There is an issue involving using Grammarly within Aweber. I recently tried out Grammarly, the grammar and word usage checker, as a FireFox plugin. It worked great and detected errors as I typed anything within the Firefox browser. It’s a great utility.
However, when I used the Aweber drag-and-drop email builder and sent a test email to my gmail account I kept getting a “Message Clipped” notice in the email when opening it.
***[Message clipped] View entire message***
Gmail limits the size of an HTML message to 102kb. If it’s more than that it clips the message and the clipping message I showed above will show in recipient’s email. The recipient can click on the “View entire message” link and be redirected to an HTML page containing your full message, however few will likely click that link.
Additionally, the unsubscribe link at the bottom of your email will not show in the clipped email which may make it more likely your email is marked as spam by the recipient. Ouch!
After contacting Aweber about this they asked if I had Grammarly installed and I said yes. Apparently, Grammarly adds hidden code to HTML text in order to check it, and it can, in some instances, greatly bloat the file size to way beyond the 102kb Gmail allows before clipping the email contents. I uninstalled Grammarly and the problem disappeared with future tests. I’m not downriding Grammarly, it’s a great utility, I’d just recommend turning it off when creating emails in your auto-responder account.
If you use Grammarly when creating emails in Aweber make sure to send a test email to a Gmail account to make sure it won’t be clipped before hitting your entire list with it. If it is getting clipped then try disabling Grammarly prior to crafting your emails. –Mike
